Business Process Development

Business Processes fall into several major categories: Innovation, Administration, Manufacturing, Sales and Distribution, Supply Chain, and HSE to name a few.  Process Advisory Services is experienced in the development and deployment of business processes supporting Innovation, Administration, Manufacturing, and HSE.

Innovation business processes generally are focused on the discovery and commercialization of new process or product technologies, and on maximizing and protecting the value of those technological advances.  For these types of processes, stage-gate methodologies provide a clear, carefully-reviewed path from ideas to implementation.  Examples of Innovation processes are:

New Product Development Process (NPD)

Intellectual Property Capture and Protection Process (IP)

Typically, Innovation business processes have four stages, though some companies prefer five.  At the conclusion of each stage of the process, the efforts and conclusions of the stage are documented for review by a board comprised of stakeholders, who decide if the development should continue, if the stage should be repeated or revert to an earlier stage, or if the development program should be suspended or terminated.  Periodically, the board will consider all development programs to determine allocation of resources, kickoff of new initiatives, and redeployment of resources from concluded efforts.
